me

Hello, my name is Heidi and I’m a caffeine-aholic.  The only days I’ve been without a single cup of coffee have resulted in a sort of brain fog that reminds me to not go without caffeine.  I have no plans at the present to enter into any sort of 12-step program to rid myself of this habit.  That said, I launched this blog in the last few days of my illustrious career in education; ready to embark upon the great unknown of the ultimate after-school special.  This blog chronicles my “adventures,” random thoughts, musings and discoveries, and the absolute luxury of enjoying a second cup of coffee.

I’m blissfully married and have a fabulous, musically talented son, who is about to embark on his own life-changing adventure–college.  We call Western Colorado our home, a wonder-full area of red-rock canyons, mountains, orchards and wineries.

Hi Heidi! I’m a java junkie too – never 12 step program – I’ll give up everything before I give up my coffee. Enjoy retirement – it’s grand trust me! When the weather is nasty out, you can look out the window, smile, and go back for that second cup. 😉

I’m totally enjoying retirement AND I’m totally enjoying having that second cup–even though I’m not supposed to have that much coffee–stupid kidney stone issues. Been really enjoying the snow more now that I don’t have to drive in it. : )

Hey Heidi! You started following my blog so I wanted to check out your blog and say, “Hi!” I just read your post, ‘What is Old Mean, Anyway?”, and I loved it. I can so relate to what you said – the old days lying in the sun with baby oil (haha and yikes!). Anyway, your blog is great! I’m glad we’ve connected girlfriend. Have a lovely day! Celeste 🙂

We’ve already connected–I also write Somethin’ Yummy! After the tamale conversation, I went to your blog to double check that I’d followed and found out I hadn’t. I’m terrible keeping up with blog reading! I don’t post to this blog much–it tends to be a place for whines and rants and other times I just need to write down my thoughts to think things through. I’m writing 5 different blogs–one for the greenhouse I wok for (Growing! With Mt Garfield Greenhouse), one for friends with an historic house they’re renovating (Love That House), this one and Somethin Yummy, and one I write for my cat (pooku59@wordpress.com). Spreading myself a bit thin! Glad we’re friends! You have a fabulous day as well! Heidi 🙂

OMG – how on earth do you keep up with 5 blogs???? You must be the most organized person in the world girlfriend! I struggle with my one little baby. I’m gonna go check out your greenhouse blog, that sounds cool! Have a lovely weekend! Celeste 🙂

Not as organized as all that. 😉 You’ll see that the greenhouse blog gets updated about once per month, more often in the spring. The House blog gets updated as we find new stories to tell of its history–we’re finding more all the time because of the blog, people who used to live in the House have contacted us that way and shared their memories! I only write on second cup when inspiration or a rant of some sort strikes, and Somethin’ Yummy when I’m not too lazy to upload and edit a bunch of photos. My cat Pookie’s blog has been sadly neglected. I have to “get in character” for that one, and now I have all these others!

It’s cold and rainy here today, snowing in the mountains. My son’s university marching band is on its way over the mountain passes, so I’m hanging out on my computer, watching weather and road condition updates. Tomorrow will be cold but sunny, perfect for watching a marching band competition! Hope you have something to look forward to this weekend as well. Heidi 🙂

I’m glad to see that your blogs don’t consume you and that you’re laid back about them. I probably should be more like that, but blogging often sucks me in for hours on end!! Hehe – oh well. Anyway, sorry the weather is so lousy where you are today. And to answer your question, I do have something to look forward to this weekend! My sister and I are going to photograph the painted elephants being displayed in Dana Point this month. It’s a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for the cause of elephant conservation. If you’re really bored, here’s a link about it: http://www.elephantparade.com/index.php/home/
    Celeste 🙂
